After upgrading Insight or changing your Kofax Analytics project, use the Test Project feature to ensure a smooth transition. Access to this feature is granted by the administrator for the role in Admin Console.

You can use this feature to verify the following functionality.

• The Insight Viewer backward compatibility: Insight checks the server for the data requests. When a new version of Insight is released, you can test it to ensure the old project returns the same data as in the previous releases.
• The Kofax Analytics project backward compatibility: All components in the newer project version must show the same data as in the previous versions.
• Server performance for requests: Insight provides time for total query execution, total reading time (reading results from databases, readers post-processing, and more), total request time.

You can generate as many test cases as possible to cover all existing components with all its potential properties. Then, you need to run the test session and see if the results coincide with expected results. If the results differ, contact the Kofax Support team.

The following terms and conventions are used throughout the Insight user interface for this feature:

Test Case

An object that describes a single test case and also includes the description for the request.

Test Group

A group of test cases. The same test case may belong to different test groups.

Test Session

Information about launching selected test cases. The session can either be saved or run as a one-time event.

Test Run

Information about running a test case: comparison results, execution time, logs, and more.

Toggle Test Session

An action that starts or stops recording test cases.
