Use time filters

Use the Designer to set the time options when a new component is set up.

Note A Time Filter in a View takes precedence over the original time settings for the component.

Add a time filter

  1. On the Component toolbar, click Filter.

    The Filter window appears.

    Filter components

  2. Click Time filter and drag it onto a View.

The Time window appears. Use this window to define Current, Interval of, or Fixed time window options.

See Time Wizard for instructions on individual settings.

  3. Select the Display tab to define the time breakdown level, such as Second, Week, or Quarter.

For example, define an interval of one year and a breakdown by month to view a list of the months in that year.

See Set Up Filter Components for more information about Display and Style options.

Note If you select multiple values on the time filter, the data is filtered by the time interval between the minimum and maximum selected values.

Configure a period filter

Period filters are based upon a set period of time: the current day, the last 7 days, the previous quarter, or other. You can select the time periods that are most appropriate to your users. On the Display and Action tabs, select how you want them displayed and what the Incoming and Outgoing Actions will be.

  1. Click Period filter and drag it onto a View.
  2. Configure the filter.

Configure time window

A Time Window filter gives the user the ability to select any two dates to define a date range to filter components.

  1. On the Time tab, select the appropriate date range. See Time Wizard for instructions on individual settings.
  2. Select Set default value on load to apply the selected date range as the default value.
  3. Click the Action tab.
  4. On the Action window, set the filter to target a specific filter group, and click OK.
  5. Switch to Preview mode to see how the time filter will appear when users see it.

Users can click the calendar control to open the Time Window settings to adjust the filter by date range.
