Configuring Blank Page Settings

Use Blank Page Settings to configure the acceptable level of speckling or other marks on a blank page.

The Content Sensitivity setting determines whether or not a page is considered blank. For example, if you select a low Content Sensitivity setting, Kofax VRS evaluates a page that contains small amounts of content (such as speckles) and determines that the page is blank. As a result, the blank page is detected and it is removed if blank page deletion is selected. If you select a high Content Sensitivity setting, Kofax VRS evaluates the same page differently and does not consider it to be blank. If blank page deletion is selected, the page is not removed.

  1. On the Image Quality tab, in the Blank Page group, click Detect or Delete.
  2. On the Image Quality tab, in the Blank Page group, click Settings.
  3. Do one of the following to set the Content Sensitivity threshold, which determines whether or not a page is considered blank:
    • Move the slider toward Noisy to allow a blank page to include small amounts of content such as speckles.

    • Move the slider toward Clean to ensure that a blank page does not include small amounts of content such as speckles.

    • Click in the Content Sensitivity box and enter a value.

  4. Select the Ignore Holes check box if you do not want hole marks near the edges to be considered as part of the page content. When Ignore Holes is not selected, a page that is empty except for hole marks near the edges may not be considered blank.
  5. Adjust other settings or start scanning.
