Creating a Batch

You create empty batches with the Create Batch window - General tab. Then, you can pass the batches to a Scan module to scan or import the images.

  1. On the Home tab, in the Batch group, click Create.
    The Create Batch window appears.
  2. From the Create Batch window - General tab, select a batch class from the drop-down list of batch classes.
  3. Change the priority level for the batch. You can select any value from 1 to 10, with 1 being the highest priority and 10 being the lowest. The selected priority affects this batch only; it does not change the priority defined for the batch class.
  4. The name is based on the batch name format, which is defined in the Batch Class Properties window - Batch Naming tab. You can enter a different name or edit the existing one. The batch name can contain up to 128 characters, including spaces for the name of the batch. (Leading and trailing spaces are removed.) The name, which must be unique, is not case-sensitive.
Tip The format of the default batch name (current date and time) is dependent on the system date/time format. To check or change this setting, use Windows Control Panel.
  5. Enter the Pages per document, Documents per batch, and Pages per batch.
Note Pages per document is only available if the batch class uses Fixed pages as the method of separation.
  6. If batch fields are specified for the batch, check the batch field values. Change the values. You can enter a value or select from the drop-down list of values.
Note Batch field information is only displayed if batch fields are specified for the batch class.
  7. If batch totaling is specified for the batch, enter the appropriate batch totals from the Totals tab. You are not able to create the batch until you enter the values.
  8. If endorsing is specified for the batch, check the initial value for the endorsing counter from the Scan tab. Enter a new initial value. If you do not enter a new value, the value already assigned is used as the initial value.
Note Endorsing is enabled in a batch class, although not all scanners support the endorser/annotation feature. Of those that do, some only support a subset of the options. Before you create a batch based on a batch class in which endorsing is enabled, make sure you understand the options selected in the batch class and the capabilities of the scanner used to scan your batches. Since scanners are selected in the Scan module, Kofax Capture cannot validate the selections in Batch Manager.
  9. Click Save to create an empty batch.

The batch appears on the list of batches on the main screen in Batch Manager.

Note Once your batch is created, it becomes available to the first module defined for the associated batch class. You can route the batch to a different module by editing the properties for the batch.
  10. If necessary, repeat the preceding steps to create another batch. When you are done creating batches, click Close to exit the Create Batch window.
Note Since the SBL support is deprecated, the following message appears when you create a batch from an existing batch class containing an SBL script: Unable to create batch. Batch class includes an SBL script, which is no longer supported.

In unattended mode, the message is logged into the log file.
