Copying a Batch Class

Use Copy to duplicate an existing batch class. The copy method is useful for adding a batch class that is similar to an existing one. When you paste a copied batch class, it is given a different name, such as Name1, Name2, and Name3. You can then modify the batch class as necessary to make it unique.

When copying a batch class, you have the option to link to or copy the original document classes. If you link to the original document classes, a copy of the batch class is created and linked to the original document classes. If you copy the original document classes, a copy of all document classes and their related objects is also created with a unique name and linked to the copied batch class.

The following tables show the items that are linked and copied for each option.

You can copy a batch class either by linking to or duplicating the original document class information.
  1. On the Batch class tree view tab, select an existing batch class.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Copy.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To link to the document class information, on the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Paste.
    • To copy the document class information, on the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow under Paste and select Paste Special. Then in the Paste Special window, select Paste with a copy of the original Document Classes.
  4. Click OK.

A copy of the batch class is created with a unique name, such as Name1, Name2, and Name3. All document classes are linked or copied, depending on your selection in the preceding step.

  5. Edit the copied batch class from the Batch Class Properties window.
Note If you perform a copy and paste on a previously copied batch class such as Name2, the new batch class is created with a unique name such as Name21, Name22, and Name23.
