Duplex Scanning on a Simplex Scanner - An Overview

You can perform duplex scanning with a simplex scanner. First scan the front sides of your documents. Kofax Capture inserts placeholders in your batch for the back sides. Then, scan all the back sides of the documents. Note the following:

  • Many batch editing features are available for use with front and back-side scanning. Individual pages can be moved, including placeholder pages. However, replacing or inserting pages is not allowed if back-side scanning is selected.

  • Scanning duplex with a simplex scanner cannot be selected if the delete blank page (front or back) feature is enabled.

  • Scanning duplex with a simplex scanner cannot be selected if a duplex scanner source device is selected.

  • When scanning the back-side pages, all scan-time separation and endorsing/annotation features are disabled. However, bar codes used for validation can still be read from back-side pages.

  • All placeholders for back-side pages must be filled before a batch can be closed.

  • If you are using a limited volume license, the remaining pages count is decremented during front-side scanning. For each page, the count is decremented by two to account for the front-side page plus the placeholder page.
