Create Batch Class Window - Advanced Tab
Use the settings on this tab to select advanced options for the batch class.
Related Tabs
You can also use this window to enable the Partial Batch Export feature, or to check and edit the properties for a batch class.
Partial Batch Export
Advance batches in error, beginning with:
Select this option to select the processing queue at which the Partial Batch Export feature should first go into effect. Starting with the specified queue, rejected documents and pages are forwarded along with error-free items to the next queue. The feature remains in effect for any queues in the workflow that follow the specified queue, as defined on the Queues tab. If you select (none), the Partial Batch Export feature is not enabled.
Drop-down list of queues
Select the queue at which Partial Batch Export should first go into effect. You can select from the following:
-
(all)
-
(none)
-
OCR Full Text
-
PDF Generator
-
Quality Control
-
Recognition Server
-
Export
-
Scan
-
Validation
-
Verification
-
Custom Modules (if applicable)
Sort Options
Sort documents by document class and form type beginning with:
Select this option to have the batch sorted by document class and form type. Then, select the queue at which the batch should first be sorted. The batch is sorted when it is opened at that queue, and remain sorted for all subsequent processing. You might want to do this if you are using validation and/or export connectors with concurrency limitations.

Rubber Band OCR
Profiles
In the Validation and Verification modules, use Rubber Band OCR to manually draw zones on an image and automatically populate index fields with the data recognized within those zones. Select the Recognition Profile you want to use for Rubber Band OCR from the drop-down list. You can select from the following profiles:
-
Kofax High Performance OCR Zonal (default)
-
Kofax High Performance ICR Zonal
-
Kofax Advanced OCR Zonal
-
Kofax ICR Zonal
Also included in the list are profiles derived from the preceding profiles.
Edit Button
Click this button to display the Recognition Profiles window. From this window, you can modify an existing profile and save it with a new profile name.
Single Document Processing
Process documents as independent batches
Select this check box if you want every document to be converted into a batch at separation. This may significantly increase the number of documents that can be processed in an hour.
With unattended scanning, each scanned document is converted into a batch if you select this option, and if the applicable batch class contains multiple document classes with sample pages.
Scan Options
Populate default index fields at Scan
Select this check box to automatically populate index fields with default values during processing in the Scan module. The index field values are populated when a batch is closed.
Import Options
Allow import of eDocument files
Select this check box if you want the batch to support eDocuments (non-image files).
Treat non-TIFF images as eDocument files
Select this option to treat non-Tiff images as eDocument Files.
Normally, when JPG and BMP files are processed, they are repeatedly re-compressed in Kofax Capture. By treating them as eDocument files, the images are not processed, preserving the original image format, quality and the file name.
Treat imported PDF files as TIFF images
Select this check box to convert all PDF files imported by the Scan and Quality Control modules to TIFF images for processing by Kofax Capture. Selecting this option has important licensing consequences.
Make imported PDF images searchableand
Ignore pages that already have searchable textoptions are disabled.
Make imported PDF images searchable
This feature adds a text layer to the imported PDF document with no text layer. Enable this option to recognize pages with images. In this case, the recognized results are placed into the original PDF file and also into the output file.
Ignore pages that already have searchable text
Select this check box to skip pages with any searchable text. In this case, only pages consisting of images are recognized.
Validation Options
Clear Index fields on pages that are replaced or moved
Select this check box to clear the Index fields on pages that are replaced or moved. This would force your validation or verification operators to re-enter or validate Index fields on those pages, but you might want to do this to ensure that the entries are correct.
If this check box is not selected, the index fields are not cleared on pages that are replaced or removed. Even so, validation or verification operators still have to verify the index fields.
Validate data entry input, even if value does not change
Select this check box to force the validation of data entry even if the values do not change. If selected, the post validation script is always applied to a field when you tab away from it, even if the value of the field does not change. If not selected, the post validation script is not executed if the value in the field does not change.
Table Options
Set a delimiter for use with legacy table support in XML Import Connector and export connectors. In the APIs with legacy
table support, this value is used to separate table fields in a single index field. For example, if the delimiter is
;
then an example of a three-value field would be
a;b;c.
The default value for this field is
;
(the semicolon).
This field allows a maximum of two printable, standard ASCII characters. The following characters are not allowed: space, tab, new line, carriage return, or escape.
Illegal characters cannot be entered, with the exception of spaces, which are trimmed when the changes are applied.
Rescan Options
Do not re-endorse pages
Select this option to prohibit pages from being re-endorsed if they are rescanned from the Quality Control queue or the Scan queue.
Ask operator for endorsing number
Select this option to re-endorse pages when they are rescanned from the Quality Control queue or the Scan queue. The quality control/scan operator is prompted for the endorsing number to use.
Internal Image Storage
Select the format to use for storing images within Kofax Capture. Compressed and uncompressed image formats are available; select the format that best meets your needs.
Keep in mind that uncompressed image files tend to be quite large and may impact processing speed and the load on your network. The main advantage of an uncompressed format is that no data is lost due to compression. This may have technical or legal implications, depending on the type of documents you are processing.
This selection only affects how the image files are stored internally by Kofax Capture. The format of the image when it is exported is determined by the specific settings in the export connector you are using. For example, see the Text Setup window - Advanced tab or the Database Setup window - Image Format tab.
Color Image Cleanup
Select the color image cleanup profile to apply to this batch class.
Profiles
Select the color image cleanup profile you want to use from the drop-down list.
Edit button
Opens the Color Image Cleanup Profiles window, where you can update settings for the selected profile.
Bar Code and Patch Code Options
Select the
Retain bar codes and patch codes on all pages
check box to retain certain bar code and patch
code values detected on all pages, even if they are not used for indexing or separation.
When you select this option, the bar code and patch code data (value, type, location) is stored at the page level. As a result, validation scripts or other customizations can use the decoded information without having to re-recognize the bar codes or patch codes. The Bar code names are stored in the custom storage strings for pages, similar to the following:
-
Kofax.Capture.Barcodes.Count = 2
-
Kofax.Capture.Barcodes.1.Value = Order Forms
-
Kofax.Capture.Barcodes.1.Type = 128
-
Kofax.Capture.Barcodes.1.Coordinates = 5, 20
-
Kofax.Capture.Barcodes.2.Value = 98733429
-
Kofax.Capture.Barcodes.2.Type = 3 of 9
-
Kofax.Capture.Barcodes.2.Coordinates = 143, 20
-
Kofax.Capture.PatchCode = "T"
Click the Advanced button to open the Advanced Bar Code and Patch Code Options window, where you specify the bar code and patch code types to retain. You can apply the currently selected bar code profile, or combine the profile with additional bar code or patch code types. Your selections must be compatible with the bar code or patch code types currently in effect for indexing or separation.
If the check box is not selected, bar code and patch code values are discarded unless they are used for indexing or separation.
Blank Page Removal Options
By default, blank pages marked for deletion are removed automatically after they are processed in the Scan module. To retain blank pages until processing is complete for another queue in the workflow, specify the queue name (such as Quality Control). If you select "None," blank pages marked for deletion are not removed automatically.
