Rotation

To help the OCR engine process the text, you can specify that the text is rotated 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees to the right. You can also specify Auto detect, which causes the OCR engine to determine the amount of rotation.

When using an OCR rotation setting other than zero, the image passed in KfxImageFile in a recognition script is the rotated image.

Text Type

Indicates to the recognition engine one of the following text types:

  • Normal: Corresponds to common typographic text.

  • Typewriter: Presumes that the text on the recognized image is typed on a typewriter.
  • Automatic: Automatically detects the type of text.

  • CMC7: Presumes that the text on the recognized image is a magnetic ink character recognition font based on the CMC-7 (ISO 1004) industry standard.

  • E13B: Presumes that the text on the recognized image is a magnetic ink character recognition font based on the E13B industry standard.

  • Handprint: Presumes that the text on the recognized image is handwritten.

Character Type

Use these settings to specify the type of data the OCR is processing:

  • Any: Both letters and numbers are expected.

  • Numbers only: Only numbers are expected.

  • Letters only: Only letters are expected.

Convert color/grayscale images to bitonal

Use this setting to force Kofax Capture to convert a color image to a bitonal image. The conversion is done prior to the recognition process. The recognition engine is able to process color/grayscale images directly. However, you may want to use bitonal images in some cases to improve performance.

Low resolution mode

Use this setting to improve OCR results for low resolution documents.
