Counting Documents and Pages

When preparing a batch of documents for scanning or importing, you should determine:

  • The number of pages in the documents (if each document in the batch has the same number of pages)

  • The number of documents in the batch

  • The total number of pages in the batch

These optional values could be useful for separating the documents in a batch or performing error checks:

  • If all the documents in a batch contain the same number of pages, the page count value can be used to define the beginning and the end of each document. If the method of separation for the batch class Fixed Pages, you can specify the number of expected pages per document.
  • The number of documents and pages in the batch can be used to determine if an incorrect number of pages or documents have been scanned or imported.

You can specify the page and document counts when you create a new batch.

  1. Manually count the documents and pages in your batch.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Batch group, click Create.
  3. From the Create Batch window, enter the values for Pages per document, Documents per batch, and Pages per batch.

Pages per document is only available if the method of separation for the batch class is Fixed Pages.

  4. Enter or select the other settings for the batch and click Scan.
