Enable Kofax PDF generation

Enables Kofax PDF file generation processing.

Dictionary name

Enter the path and file name for a Full Text dictionary file. (You can also browse for the file.) The Full Text dictionary is used to check unrecognized words during PDF generation. The dictionary file must be accessible to the PDF Generator module.

Recognition profiles

Select a recognition profile from the drop-down list, which contains all Kofax-defined recognition profiles that apply to the Kofax PDF generation option.

Note For new Kofax Capture installations, Kofax PDF Text Under Image appears on the list of recognition profiles, and Kofax PDF Image + Text is no longer available. However, you can continue to use any Kofax PDF Image + Text recognition profile (which supports Text Over Image) created in an earlier version of Kofax Capture. If you import a batch class that uses a Kofax PDF Image + Text profile created in an earlier version, it is added to the list of recognition profiles.

Edit button

Displays the Recognition Profiles window, where you can define a custom recognition profile for the document class.

Skip first page of each document

Select this check box to skip the first page of your documents. You may want to do this if the first page of each document is a standalone separator sheet.

PDF Document Information

Select the type of content to display in the PDF Document property fields.

The PDF document properties are data fields that can be displayed in Adobe Acrobat, which may be useful for cataloging and retrieving PDF files after they are exported from Kofax Capture.

The PDF document information properties include the following:

  • Title: Title of the PDF document

  • Subject: Subject of the PDF document

  • Author: Name of the Author of the PDF document

  • Keywords: Keywords for the PDF document

  • Application: Name of the application used to create the original document

  • PDF Producer: Name of the person who produced the PDF document

Each field has a property button that displays a submenu with the following options:

  • Unlink Field: Clears the field and sets it to blank.

  • Index Fields: Sets the contents to a value based on Kofax Capture index fields. If no index fields are defined, this selection is unavailable.

  • Batch Fields: Sets the contents to a value based on the Kofax Capture batch field value. If no batch fields are defined, this selection is unavailable.

  • Kofax Capture Values: Sets the contents to a value based on a Kofax Capture Value.

  • Text Constant: Allows you to manually edit the contents with a text string up to 254 characters. Any characters that exceed the limit are ignored.

Note The PDF Document properties are always associated with a single document class and its parent batch class.

If a PDF document property is linked to an index field and the index field is renamed, then the PDF Document property field is also updated. If that index field is deleted, the corresponding PDF Document property field is cleared.

If a PDF document property is linked to a batch field and the batch field is renamed on the Batch Properties - General tab, the batch field name of the PDF Document property field is also updated. If that batch field is deleted, then the corresponding PDF Document property field is cleared.

Custom Properties

Set additional custom properties to display on the Custom tab of the PDF Document property fields.

If some of the fields are left blank, such properties are still shown under custom document properties, but display no values.

The custom properties include the following:

  • Date: Date of the PDF document

  • Format: Format of the PDF document

  • Type: Type of the PDF document

  • Contributor: Name of the person who contributed to the document

  • Description: Description of the PDF document

  • Identifier: Identifier of the PDF document
