Database Utility - Security Tab

Use this tab to enable or disable the SecurityBoost feature for your Kofax Capture installation, or to select USGCB compliance for the Standard database password.

Enable SecurityBoost

Select this check box to enable SecurityBoost for your entire Kofax Capture installation.

User name

Enter/select the name of the SecurityBoost user.

Browse
Click this button to browse for the SecurityBoost user and display the Select User dialog box, which lists the available Windows users. Be sure to select the user that has been specifically allocated to serve as the SecurityBoost user.

Password

Enter the password of the SecurityBoost user.

Domain

Enter the domain of the SecurityBoost user.

Protect batch image folder only

Select this check box to apply the SecurityBoost feature only for use with the batch image folder. When selected, access to the batch image folder is restricted, but access to other folders is based on the permissions granted to the user.

This option gives you the ability to secure images on the file system while minimizing the impact of SecurityBoost on scanners, custom modules, or third-party applications.

Passwords - USGCB Compliant

The USGCB Compliant check box is available only if you are using Kofax Capture with the Standard database.

When selected, this check box ensures that the Standard database password complies with the United States Government Configuration Baseline (USGCB) requirements for password complexity and encryption. Select the check box if:

  • Your organization's policy requires USGCB password compliance

  • You are using Kofax Capture with an add-in component that requires USGCB compliance

By default, the check box is not selected.

Passwords for Oracle, SQL Server or IBM DB2 databases are managed separately by the respective database management systems.

User profile - Allow to edit only linked users

When selected, this check box ensures that the administrator can edit only existing linked users, without possibility to create new Kofax Capture users. The following rules apply:

  • Only the built-in Admin user can change the password.

  • All other administrators cannot change the password for the built-in Admin account.
