The User dialog: Access rights

To access this dialog:

  1. Click the Users object bar.
  2. Right-click an existing user profile and select Open. Or, right-click in the resulting Users area above the object bars and select New to define a new user.
  3. Click Access rights.

    Use these settings when you define a new user or edit an existing one or adjust user authorization:

    Note that when Administrator rights is not selected for a user in the dialog but individual modules are, you must also select at least one option for each module. If the module is selected but no options are selected, the user will be able to open the module, but they will not be able to do anything with it.

    Administrator rights Gives full access to all modules. Administrators can add and delete users, choose which modules users have access to, change the passwords of users, and disable the user authorization system. Keep the number of administrators to a minimum.
    Manager Grants the user rights to log on to and use the module.

    These settings become available when you select Manager.

    System tasks Gives permission to create, open, change or delete:

    • Clear database
    Configuration tasks
    Gives permission to create, open, change or delete:
    • Document profiles
    • Job descriptions
    • Transaction descriptions
    • Tables
    • Batch report layouts
    • Scanner descriptions

    • Endorser counters
    • Inbox
    • AutoValue configuration
    • Master data policy
    Production tasks
    Gives permission to create, open, change or delete:

    • Document utilities
    • Document definition utilities
    • List senders
    • List receivers
    Scan Grants the user rights to log on to and use the module.

    These settings become available when you select Scan.

    Create job description Gives permission to make new job descriptions.
    Modify job description Gives permission to edit existing job descriptions.
    Save/Save as job description Gives permission to save job descriptions or save job descriptions with a new name.
    Interpret Grants the user rights to log on to and use the module.

    These settings become available when you select Interpret.

    Create job description Gives permission to make new job descriptions.
    Modify job description Gives permission to edit existing job descriptions.
    Save/Save as job description Gives permission to save job descriptions or save job descriptions with a new name.
    Verify Grants the user rights to log on to and use the module.
    Note If you are using an Inbox, you can control access to the inbox folders by a separate process. The Verify operators must in any case be able to log on and use the Verify module, if you have enabled user authorization for it.

    These settings become available when you select Verify.

    Create job description Gives permission to make new job descriptions.
    Modify job description Gives permission to edit existing job descriptions.
    Save/Save as job description Gives permission to save job descriptions or save job descriptions with a new name.
    Adjust access Gives permission to adjust values on documents.
    Approve access Gives permission to approve documents.
    Disable document deletion Gives permission to delete documents.
    Disable definition relearning Removes permission to relearn document definitions.
    Transfer Grants the user rights to log on to the module and run jobs.

    These settings become available when you select Transfer.

    Create job description Gives permission to make new job descriptions.
    Modify job description Gives permission to edit existing job descriptions.
    Save/Save as job description Gives permission to save job descriptions or save job descriptions with a new name.
    Optimize Grants the user full access to Optimize.
