Applying Color Detection Settings
Use the settings in the Color Detection group to select your preferences for automatic color detection. With automatic color detection, Kofax Express determines if a scanned page is color or black and white, and processes it accordingly.
With automatic color detection, you do not need to separate color pages from black and white pages before scanning.
You can adjust the sensitivity to color content, including small amounts of color, on a document.
Before scanning with automatic color detection, scan a test page that produces a color image and then scan a page that produces black and white. This way, you can adjust the scan settings separately to ensure optimal image quality for both color and black and white documents.
- On the Scan Settings tab, in the Settings group, click VRS Color.
- On the Scan Settings tab, in the Color Detection group, click Detect Color.
-
Do one of the following to adjust the sensitivity to color
content:
-
Move the slider to the left to decrease the likelihood of detecting color content.
-
Move the slider to the right to increase the likelihood of detecting color content.
-
Select a value in the box next to the slider.
-
-
Click
Detect Small Color
Objects to detect small amounts of color (such as a photograph, a
date stamp, or highlighted text) on documents that are otherwise colorless.
When this setting is active, pages with limited amounts of color content are more likely to be processed successfully. Otherwise, the small amount of color may not be detected.
-
If you selected
Detect Small Color Objects in the previous
step, do one of the following to adjust the sensitivity to limited amounts of
color content:
-
Move the slider to the left to decrease the likelihood of detecting limited amounts of color content.
-
Move the slider to the right to increase the likelihood of detecting limited amounts of color content.
-
Select a value in the box next to the slider.
-
- Select the Ignore Background Color check box if you do not want background color to be considered when an assessment is performed to determine if the page is black and white or color.
