Batches Panel

The Batches panel to the left of the image viewing area lists the batch names, job names, documents, scanned pages, and status associated with the batches you are processing. The information on the Batches panel is dynamically updated each time you scan.

When you select a batch on the Batches panel, or create, delete, or paste documents and images, the contents of the batch are displayed automatically in the image viewing area.

The following table describes the information on the Batches panel.

Column

Description

Batch state icon

Indicates the current batch state, such as "Scan", "Index", "Export", "Exported", or "Error".

Job Name

Lists the name of the job associated with the batch in the Batch Name column.

Batch Name

Lists the name of each batch. By default, each new batch is assigned the base name "Batch" followed by a 3-digit sequential number, such as "Batch001".

Owner

Lists the name of the user who has the batch opened, or who opened it last. Applies only to Kofax Express Server.

Workstation

Lists the name of the workstation associated with the user who is the batch owner. Applies only to Kofax Express Server.

Documents

Lists the total number of documents associated with the batch. When you create a new batch, the first document is not created or displayed on the Batches panel until you start scanning.

Pages

Lists the total number of scanned pages contained in the batch. Each page represents one side of a scanned sheet.

Status

Lists the current status of batch processing operations related to scanning, indexing, or exporting.

Updating the Batches Panel

When you point to the list of batches and right-click, a shortcut menu appears. The menu lists operations that you can perform to manage the batch list. The availability of the menu items may vary, according to the operations that apply to your instance of Kofax Express application:

Sorting and Adjusting the Columns

You can do any of the following to sort or adjust the appearance of the columns on the Batches panel.

Sorting Columns

  • Right-click a column heading and click Sort Ascending to sort the column in ascending order.

  • Click a column heading, then click the up arrow to sort the column in ascending order.

  • Right-click a column heading and click Sort Descending to sort the column in descending order.

  • Click a column heading, then click the down arrow to sort the column in descending order.

Adjusting Columns

  • Right-click a column heading and click Column Chooser to remove a column and drag it to the Customization window. After closing the window, restore a column heading by clicking Column Chooser again and dragging the column name from the Customization window to the panel.

  • Right-click a column heading and click Best Fit to adjust the column so it is entirely visible on the panel.

  • Right-click a column heading and click Best Fit (all columns) to make all of the columns entirely visible on the panel.

Refreshing the Batches Panel

Use the Refresh function to ensure that the most current information is displayed in the Batches panel.

In the Batches panel, in the lower left corner, click Refresh.

Filtering by Job or User

Use the following procedure to filter the list in the Batches panel based on jobs or users associated with your workstation, or with all workstations.

  1. On the Batches panel, in the lower left corner, click All Jobs or All Users to display batches for jobs or users associated with all workstations.
  2. Click All Jobs or All Users again to display batches for jobs or users associated only with the current workstation.

Filtering by Batch State

Use the Filter by state setting to filter the list on the Batches panel based on the current batch state.

  1. On the Batches panel, to the right of the Filter by state setting, click the arrow to display the list of batch states.

    The list of batch states may vary, depending on the Kofax Express operations performed on your workstation.

  2. Click one of the following filters:
    • All: Displays all batches.

    • Scan: Displays only batches that are currently scanning.

    • Index: Displays only batches that are currently being indexed.

    • Export: Displays only batches that are currently being exported.

    • Exported: Displays only batches that have completed the export process.

    • Error: Displays only batches for which errors occurred during processing.

    The list of batches is refreshed according to your selection.
