Cropping an Image Manually

Use cropping to trim an image to the size of a selected rectangle; only the area within the rectangle is saved. With cropping, you can add emphasis to an image, or remove unwanted elements.

Manual cropping is available only in single image view.

If you prefer automatic cropping, use the Auto Crop feature on the Scan Settings tab.

  1. In the viewer, open the image to crop, and verify that single image view is active.
  2. On the VRS Corrections tab, in the Settings group, click VRS General.
  3. In the Manual Corrections group, click Crop.

Manual crop mode goes into effect, and the cursor changes to a Crop tool.

  4. Use the sizing handles to draw a rectangle around the area to retain.

The area outside the rectangle will be removed from the image. The minimum rectangle size is 16x16 pixels.

Draw and crop in one step by holding down Ctrl as you resize the rectangle.

  5. Do one of the following to crop the image:
    • On the mini toolbar, click Accept Crop.

    • Press Enter.

The area outside the rectangle is removed from the image.

  6. Do one of the following to exit manual crop mode:
    • On the mini toolbar, click Cancel crop.

    • Press Esc.

  7. Save the image.
