Activating the Product License

You must activate the product license to be eligible for technical support and product updates.

You can activate the license in response to messages that appear while evaluation or demonstration mode is active. In this case, image stamping and batch export limitations are discontinued after you activate the license.

You need a working Internet connection to activate or update your product license. If necessary, go to another computer with a working Internet connection and activate your license here:

If you attempt license activation without completing it successfully, a grace period is started. You can continue to use all product features that apply to your license level while the grace period is active. If the grace period elapses without successful license activation, the product switches to demonstration mode. In demonstration mode, a stamp is applied to scanned images and limitations are placed on the batch export process.

  1. On the Help tab, in the License group, click Activate.
  2. User Identification: Enter your name, company, and email address.
  3. System Identification: You cannot update these entries, which contain computer and scanner information that is automatically detected.
  4. Product Identification: Enter the part number, serial number, and product code, based on information provided to you at the time of product purchase.
  5. License Code: If you have a license code, type it in the text box. Otherwise, the code is automatically generated after you activate the license in the next step.
  6. Click Activate.
  7. Do one of the following:

    • Click OK to clear the message that confirms successful license activation.

    • If no Internet connection is available to contact the Kofax license server, the Activate - Connection Failed window appears. If you click Retry without success, click Cancel to display the Activate - No Internet Connection window. Then follow the onscreen instructions, which explain how to use another computer to activate the license.
