Advanced Properties - Multifeed - Ngenuity Scanners

Use the Multifeed panel to specify operating preferences associated with multifeed detection.

Multifeed Mode

Set preferences for handling a multifeed condition:

  • Off: No multifeed detection occurs, and no notification is sent. If the multifeed condition causes no other document processing errors, scanning will continue. All scanned images are retained.
  • Notify: The scanner sounds an audible alert, ignores the multifeed condition, and continues to feed and scan other documents. The image of the document that triggered the multifeed condition is retained.
  • Stop: The scanner stops, displays an error message, and sounds an audible alert indicating that a multifeed condition has been detected.

When a multifeed condition occurs, you'll see an image of the document that caused the multifeed, as well as a message telling you how to proceed on the Auto Resolve Manager window. Options include retaining the image and continuing processing or manually clearing the cause of the multifeed and rescanning the document. When the multifeed condition is resolved, batch scanning continues automatically.

For further information about how to resolve a multifeed condition at the scanner, see your scanner documentation.

Enable Sensors

Select the Left, Center, or Right check boxes as appropriate to indicate where on a document you want multifeed conditions detected.

We recommend that you only disable sensors that may cause false multifeed conditions. For example, if labels appear on the right-hand side of each document, you may want to disable the right-hand sensor to prevent a false multifeed alert caused by label thickness.

Ignore by Size

Set the minimum overlap length required to trigger a multifeed exception when scanning:

  • Documents
  • Documents with stickers, labels, or items attached or taped to them

When the scanner detects an overlap that is greater than the specified length, it triggers a multifeed exception.
