Advanced Properties - Imprinter - Kodak Scanners

Kofax VRS supports basic imprinting and annotation. For production-class scanners equipped with imprinters, you can set up imprinting properties using the Imprinter panel on the Advanced Properties window.

You build a text string that includes a sheet count value, dynamic date and time content, and predefined text. The scanner prints the text string on the sheet when it is scanned. Kofax VRS reads the string that was printed and uses it to annotate the scanned image permanently with the string in the same orientation that it was printed.

The scanner may support annotation of the text string even when there is no imprinter. When you select "Annotate only, "Kofax VRS uses a "virtual" imprinter, and you decide which side of the scanned image will include the electronic annotation.

Imprinter Controls Group

In the Imprinter Controls group, you can select from the following:

  • Front page prescan: Imprinting string is printed on the front of the scanned page prior to scanning the front page image.

  • Back page postscan: Imprinting string is printed on the back of the scanned page after scanning the back page image. The string does not appear on the image itself.

  • Disable (default): No string is created on the scanned page or the resulting image.

  • Annotate only: No string is imprinted, but Kofax VRS applies the string electronically. Some settings on the Text Controls window are not available when annotation is selected, but you can include a counter, date, time and fixed characters in the text string. You can also select an orientation. Not available for Ngenuity scanners.
