Multipage Export Setup Window - Index Group

Use the settings in the Index group to set preferences for exporting the index data for the batch.

Encoding

Select one of the following formats to encode the index data:

  • ASCII: (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) A character representation in which one byte is used for each character. The low order 7 binary digits of each byte are used. Double-byte characters are encoded using the Windows MBCS (multi-byte character string) format. The non-Unicode language must be set to the target language in the Regional and Language Settings in Control Panel.

  • UTF16: native Unicode format, where every character or symbol is represented by a two-byte sequence.

Batch header

Sets optional preferences for an index file relating to the entire batch. Often used for legacy applications, creation of the batch header can trigger the import of exported documents by a document management application.

Create index file

Creates an index file containing general index information about the entire batch. The index file is created only after all images are exported.

Save in

Sets one of the following as the location where the index file is saved after export:

  • Images export folder: Saves the index file in a subfolder directly under the export folder.

  • Batch folder: Saves the index file in a subfolder named the same as the batch name.

  • Custom: Saves the index file in a folder that you specify. Click Browse to navigate to the folder location.

Name

Sets one of the following as the name for the batch index file:

  • Batch name: Uses the batch name as the index file name.

  • Custom: Sets a custom index file name that you enter in the box provided.

Extension

Sets the extension for the index file name. XML is the default extension.

Documents

Sets preferences for the index data created for each document in the batch.

Create index file

Creates an index file that contains index data related to each document. Index files are created after all images are exported. Select one of the following to indicate how to group the index data:

  • Per batch: Creates one index file that contains values for every document in the batch.

  • One per document: Creates multiple index files, each containing values for a document in the batch.

Save in

Sets one of the following as the location where the index file is saved after export:

  • Images export folder: Saves the index file in a subfolder directly under the export folder.

  • Batch folder: Saves the index file in a subfolder named the same as the batch name.

  • Custom: Saves the index file in a folder that you specify. Click Browse to navigate to the folder location.

Name

Sets one of the following as the name for the document index file:

  • Batch name: Sets the batch name as the document index file name.

  • Custom: Sets a custom index file name that you enter in the box provided.

  • Document number: Uses the document number as the document index file name.

  • Index field: Uses an index field as the file name for the document index file. Select from the list of available index fields.

File type

Sets the file format for the index file. If you select "TXT", click Setup to set preferences on the TXT Settings Setup window.

Extension

Sets the extension for the index file name. "TXT" is the default extension.
