Advanced Properties - Advanced Color - Ngenuity Scanners

Use the Advanced Color panel to apply exclusive camera modes to both front and back cameras in the scanner.

Camera Modes

You can select from the following camera mode options:

  • sRGB

  • ICC

  • Gamma (default)

sRGB

Sets up scanner cameras to be compatible with the sRGB standard.

This setting applies to the camera output only; any post-capture Kofax VRS image processing settings affect the final output file's color content.

ICC

ICC profile data can be embedded with color images and be used by viewing or printing applications to compensate or adjust colors for optimal quality. ICC data is useful only for applications that are ICC-profile aware.

Select this option to set up scanner cameras to be compatible with the scanner's ICC color correction profile and cause Kofax VRS to embed ICC-compatible profile data into the image files

We recommend that you not use other post-processing Kofax VRS color adjustments in combination with ICC profile mode, as the color adjustments can conflict with how the ICC data is used by the ICC-aware application.

Kofax ImageControls embeds ICC profile data within the image files created during scanning. For this to occur successfully, the scanning application must:

  • Be an ImageControls application (to ensure that ICC profile data is embedded into the image files)

  • Be set up for color scanning

  • Be set up to store TIFF, JPEG, or PDF image file types

  • Not use Kofax VRS automatic color detection (as it may convert some images to black and white)

Gamma (default)
Sets up scanner cameras using a specific camera gamma value.

Camera Gamma

When the Gamma camera mode is selected, the Camera Gamma slider control is enabled. Select a lower gamma value to enhance color saturation for bright colors and a higher gamma value to enhance color variations for dark colors. For most documents, we recommend that you keep the Camera Gamma setting at the default value.
