Advanced Properties - Rotation

You can use the Rotation panel settings to automatically rotate images as they are scanned. For example, you can apply a 180-degree setting to rotate pages that are scanned upside down.

For successful rotation results, make sure that all pages are facing the same direction in the ADF.

Use the Rotation panel settings to rotate a scanned image by 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Selecting 0 results in no rotation. With duplex settings, front and back side rotation is available; with simplex settings, only front side rotation is available.

To rotate duplex images so that both images are oriented in the same direction, set the back side rotation to mirror the front side rotation by 180 degrees. For example, if the front side of a scanned image is rotated by 90 degrees, set the back side to be rotated by 270 (90 + 180) degrees; if the front side is rotated by180 degrees, set the back side to be rotated by 0 (180 - 180) degrees.

When an image is displayed in the Kofax VRS Interactive Viewer, it reflects the rotation angle plus the angle set on the Image Quality tab. Furthermore, any rotation in ImageControls-based applications is independent of (and performed after) the rotation set from the Rotation panel. Rotation panel settings apply after deskew, crop, and settings from the Picking Rectangle panel. As a result, Kofax VRS applies image processing settings in this order:

  • Kofax VRS deskew (if enabled)

  • Kofax VRS crop (if enabled)

  • Settings on the Advanced Properties Picking Rectangle panel

  • Settings on the Advanced Properties Rotation panel

The rotation options on this panel may conflict with the Auto Rotate setting on the Image Quality tab. For best results, do not select the Rotation panel settings and Auto Rotate at the same time.
