Setting Multifeed Detection for Kodak Scanners

Use this procedure to set multifeed detection preferences for Kodak scanners.

  1. On the Kofax VRS Image Quality tab, in the Scanner group, click Driver Settings.

    The Advanced Properties window appears.

  2. Select the Multifeed panel.
  3. In the Multifeed Action group, select the Enable check box to turn on multifeed detection.
  4. In the Multifeed Action group, use the list to specify how the scanner should respond to a multifeed condition. For a description of each response, see Multifeed Action.
  5. In the Ultrasonic Sensitivity group, select one of the following to indicate how aggressively the multifeed sensors should work:
    • Low: Least aggressive detection of multifeed pages

    • Medium: Average detection of multifeed pages

    • High: Highly aggressive detection of multifeed pages

  6. In the Sensors group, do the following to indicate which of the five scanner sensors should be used for multifeed detection:
    • Enable: Select the check box for each sensor you want to use for multifeed detection.

    • Ignore Length: Select the check box to specify a document measurement to be ignored by an enabled sensor. Any document with a length less than the specified measurement is prevented from producing a multifeed error.

    • Ignore up to: If Ignore Length is selected for any sensor, set a measurement to indicate which document lengths should be excluded during multifeed detection. For example, if you set the value to 5 inches, any document length up to 5 inches is ignored during multifeed detection. The same measurement is applied to each sensor for which Ignore Length is selected. The length is set in inches or millimeters, according to the setting in the Units group.

  7. In the Document Length group, do the following to select multifeed detection based on the length of the document scanned:
    • Enable: Select the check box to select multifeed detection based on document length.

    • Overlap length: Set a length to set a document length that exceeds the paper size setting in the scan application. For example, if you set the overlap length to 2 inches while scanning pages with a length of 11 inches, multifeed detection goes into effect if a page length exceeding 13 inches is detected. The length is set in inches or millimeters, according to the setting in the Units group.
