Advanced Properties - Toggle Color Mode - Kodak Scanners

Use the Toggle Color Mode panel if you are using patch code sheets to perform color mode switching between color/grayscale and black and white scanner settings. For the procedure, click here.

An automated approach to color mode switching is available with the Color Detection feature.

When you are scanning a batch containing both color/grayscale and black and white documents, toggling to black and white before scanning black and white documents reduces the additional time and storage required to scan the same documents using color or grayscale mode.

Use this feature in conjunction with unique toggle patch sheets that contain a patch code. When the Toggle Color Mode feature is enabled and a toggle patch sheet is scanned, the scanner automatically switches to the opposite color mode. All subsequent documents are scanned with the new color mode until another toggle patch sheet is scanned. Click here to see how different patch code types affect the results.

The Toggle Color Mode feature is used only for batch scanning with no predefined stops (that is, the operating mode is not set to First Page or Every Page).

Use the Toggle Color Mode panel to do the following:

  • Select color mode switching and optionally start scanning in black and white
  • Set a dpi value for scanning black and white images (settings for color images are applied in the scanning application)
  • View current Toggle Color Mode settings for Auto Brightness, Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma for black and white scanning
  • Set the scanner to delete images produced by toggle patch 4 sheets
  • Set the scanner to issue an audible confirmation when a toggle patch code is processed

The availability of settings on the Toggle Color Mode may vary, according to the scanner you are using with Kofax VRS.
