The Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine is an additional method for recognizing bar codes. This corresponds to the Bar Code Recognition functionality that is part of Kofax TotalAgility separation feature. This means that if a project is configured so that bar codes are used for document separation, that bar code data is saved so that you can use it at a later time in Transformation Designer for a Bar Code Locator.

Since a Bar Code Locator can be configured to use a combination of the Enhance Bar Code as well as the FineReader recognition engine, this means that the Enhanced Bar Code value returned during Kofax TotalAgility separation is compared with the recognition results from the FineReader engine. The result with the highest confidence is returned.

When configuring separation in Kofax TotalAgility ensure that you configure the separation settings as follows.

• Select the Bar Code and Patch Code method for Separation.

• Set the Bar Code Separation value to Yes.
