Test and optimizing a project

In order to optimize your project, you need to know how your current settings perform. Only after testing your project can you refine and modify your settings to improve your results. There are several ways to test your project settings for the different areas of your project.

For example, you can test a format locator on a test document, you can test your extraction settings on a test document, or you can test your classification settings with a classification benchmark against a set of golden files.

For the best results, you can test and optimize your project to successfully and consistently processes batches by following these steps:.

  1. For each class in your project, test the individual locator results with as large a document set as possible.
  2. Using a comprehensive document set for your project and its classes, run all preliminary tests that are applicable for your project. Based on the results of these tests, modify your project settings to improve results.
  3. Test your separation results by performing a separation benchmark using a set of golden files. Refine your separation settings as necessary to achieve optimal results. This step is optional as it may not apply to your solution.
  4. Test your classification results by performing a classification benchmark using a set of golden files. Refine your classification settings as necessary to achieve optimal results.
  5. Test your extraction results by performing an extraction benchmark using a set of golden files. Refine your extraction settings as necessary to achieve optimal results.
  6. Test all of the above optimized settings against a set of documents by selecting Process Batch from the Process menu. If the results are still not adequate, repeat steps 2-6 until you are satisfied with the results.
  7. Test one or more batches of unseen documents by processing them through Kofax Capture Scan and Kofax TotalAgility. If any results are lower than you expected, repeat steps 2-7.
