Add a subtree classifier

Subtree classifiers are created automatically for any class that has subtree classification enabled and that contains one or more child class. Maintain these classifiers by modifying the settings in the parent class properties.

Important The Subtree Classifier is an AFC, and has the same properties as the top-level content classifier that is maintained in the Project Settings - Classification tab.

You can add a Subtree Classifier to a parent class by following these steps:

  1. In the main Transformation Designer window, hide or close any windows that block the Ribbon.
  2. Open the Project Tree window if it is not already open.
  3. Open the Details window if it is not already open.
  4. Expand the Project Tree and select the parent class that has subtree classification enabled.

The Class Properties are displayed in the Details window.

  5. Ensure that subtree classification is enabled for the selected class.

If this option is cleared, subtree classification is not used and a Subtree Classifier is not added.

  6. Open the Documents window if it is not already open.
  7. Add training documents for each child class that requires subtree classification.
Important If you add no training documents, subtree classification cannot be performed.
  8. On the Process tab, in the Train group, click Separation & Classification.

A Subtree Classifier is created automatically for each child class whose parent class that has subtree classification enabled.

  9. On the class properties of the parent class, modify the Subtree Classifier as required.

Optionally, repeat this for all subtree classifiers as needed.

  10. Optionally, test your classification settings.
