Delete a Text Content Locator subfield

If you no longer need a subfield in your Text Content Locator, the best practice is to delete the subfield from the locator. During testing, you may decide to remove the field mapping for one subfield to remove it from your results. However, once you are content with your test results, you should remove all unmapped subfields to ensure that there is no confusion at a later time.

You can delete a Text Content Locator subfield by following these steps:

  1. Open the locator properties.
  2. On the General tab, from the Define Subfields list, click the blue cell next to the name of the subfield to delete.

The row is highlighted in orange and an arrow is displayed in the blue cell to indicate selection.

  3. Click Delete.

The subfield is removed from the Define Subfields list.

  4. Optionally, add, rename, or delete other subfields.
  5. Click Close to close the locator properties window.
  6. Save the changes to your project.
