Ensure a database field does not replace an OCR value

If you select the Replace option for a field, the results do not use the text actually found on the document. Instead replace the extracted text by the corresponding value from the database.

Most of the time, you want to use the original record from the database as the result rather than data from the document that is sometimes incorrect. This is because the recognition value is not always 100% correct and the database value is more than likely correct. However, there are times when you do not want this to happen, so you can ensure that a database field does not replace a recognition value by following these steps:

  1. Open the locator properties.
  2. Click the Fields tab.
  3. In the Field properties table, select the field whose recognition data should not be replaced.
  4. Clear the Replace option.
  5. Repeat the preceding steps for each field as required.
  6. Open a test document and click Test to test your settings.
  7. Optionally, click Close to close the locator properties window.
  8. Save the changes to your project.
