Configure an OCR activity

Use the following procedure to configure an OCR activity.

  1. Add an activity to the map.

    By default, the Configuration tab is open in the properties panel of the activity.

  2. Change the default Name of the activity to something meaningful.
  3. On the Type list, select Capture > OCR.
  4. On the Input document/folder list, select a document or folder variable as an input to the activity. See Create a document variable and Create a folder variable.
  5. Select Detect orientation and provide a static value or map the boolean variable as process or server variables.
  6. To recognize the documents in single or multiple languages, specify the recognition languages by dynamically mapping a string variable or enter the language. You can specify multiple languages separated by a comma or semicolon. For example: English,German or French;Danish.

  7. Specify the OCR mode.

    Available options are:

    • Fast (0)

    • Normal (1)

    • Accurate (2)

    • Variable (Map a process variable [Short or Byte])

  8. To create a multi-page TIFF from the single page images in the document and store it in a binary extension (Kofax.TotalAgility.Perfected.Image), select Create multipage TIFF. (Default: Clear)
  9. Save or release the process map.
