Additional information on the deletion of scanned pages

This topic provides information on how the bar code and patch code settings in the Bar code and patch code profiles or the conjunction of Bar code and patch code profile settings with Separation profile settings affect the scanned page deletion.

Page deletion based on the bar code and patch code settings in the Bar code and patch code profile

The Scan activity behaves similarly except that if there is already a batch with documents that comes to the Scan activity, the system searches for the duplicates only on the newly ingested pages and does not remove duplicate bar codes from the pages that are existing at the time of Scan activity opening.

Page deletion based on the conjunction of a Bar code and patch code profiles with a Separation profile

Separation profiles and Bar code and patch code profiles have similar settings such as bar code and patch code types, Bar code checksum, and an option for deleting a page containing detected bar code and patch code. The rules applied to these settings are:

  • All unique bar code types are collected from the Document/Folder separation settings and Bar code and patch code profile.

  • When a Scan create new job form or Scan activity has an assigned Bar code and patch code profile, then the value of the Bar code checksum setting is taken from the Bar code and patch code profile. Otherwise, it is taken from the Document separation settings.

  • The deleting page options in all profiles are used independently. If these settings have different values in different profiles, then the page is still deleted if the removal condition is satisfied in at least one profile. For example, in the Separation profile, the document separation is configured with Code 39, and the Delete bar code separator sheet option is selected. At the same time, in the Bar code and patch code profile, the bar code detection is configured to the same bar code type (Code 39), and the When bar code found option is set to Keep page. In this case, if the scanned page contains the Code 39 bar code, then the page is deleted based on the document separation settings.
