Alternative extraction search action

Add an Alternative extraction search action to a document validation form to perform an alternative extraction search in a validation activity. You can select the fields to show alternative results for.

This action type is available only on a validation form for a document. It is mandatory to install Kofax Search and Matching Server (KSMS) on your computer.
  1. On the form modeling bar, click Actions and click New.

    The New action dialog box is displayed.

  2. On the Type list, select Alternative extraction search.
  3. Change the default Name (AlternativeExtractionSearch1) to something meaningful.
  4. Optional. Enter a Description for the action.
  5. Optional. Select Multilingual to configure a unique action for each language separately. See Configure multilingual actions.
  6. Select the Number of records to return at runtime. (Default: 1)
  7. For Document fields, select the check box for the fields to perform the alternative extraction search for.

    All the columns are displayed by default at runtime.

  8. To define size of the alternative extraction search window, on the Display tab, select either option for the Width mode:
    • Fixed: Specify the required Dialog width (default: 667px) and Dialog height (default: 450 px).

    • Percentage: Specify the required Dialog width (default: 75%) and Dialog height (default: 450 px).

  9. The Results columns displays fields selected in the Document fields on the General tab. To configure the width of the column:
    1. Select the column and click .
    2. On the Width list, select the width for the column.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Click to reorder the columns to use a logical order for your search query.

    When you open the form at run time, the alternative extraction search window and columns are displayed as per the size defined.

  10. Click Add.

    The newly created action appears on the Actions page.

    At runtime, when this action is triggered, an alternative extraction search is performed in a validation activity.
