Configuring card self-registration

Card self-registration enables users to swipe cards that are not recognized by the system and link them to their user account. Card Registration screen appears to prompt users to enter their credentials based on the configuration of the system. If the system is configured with Azure AD, you can use the authentication methods shown in Azure AD authentication with card registration.

To use this feature, Authentication must be on. This feature is not supported in an AutoStore-only configuration. The fields that appear on the Card Registration screen depend on your configuration.

When Equitrac is configured:

  • On the User Authentication: Authentication Options page, set the following options:

    • Equitrac PINs.

    • Input type: Set to Card swipe or keypad entry.

    • Secondary prompt: Set to If PIN2 available.

    • Auto-register primary and alternate primary PINs.

    • Identity Provider (under Card Registration), if you are using Azure AD authentication.

  • When only PIN is required, a User ID field is shown.

  • When both PIN1 and PIN2 are configured, the User ID and Password fields are shown. On AltaLink devices, you can click to accept the user ID and password or to clear the fields.

When Output Manager is configured:

  • Select Administration. On the Security tab, make sure the following options are set under External client login:

    • Allow user name / password.

    • Allow card swipe.

    • Allow card registration using card ID.

    • Allow card registration using Azure, if you are using Azure AD authentication.

    These settings ensure that card registration is always enabled. You can set the other options on the tab as needed.

    • If Allow user name / password is set, the Username, Password, or both fields are shown, depending on the Output Manager configuration.

    • If Allow card registration using card ID is set, the Card ID field is shown. If you swipe an unregistered card, you are prompted to enter the current PIN, the card ID, and a new PIN.

      The Allow card registration using card ID option is available on ControlSuite 1.3 or later.
