Scanning settings in AutoStore

This topic describes scanning settings that are available for Fujifilm devices in the Unified Client Capture component.

These settings are configured on the General tab in the form settings. Select the Allow Changes check box next to any option to allow users to change the setting on the device console.

  • The available scanning options depend on the device type.
  • If a setting value is not supported by device, then it is hidden from users.
Setting Description
Two Sided Scan Indicates if the document has one or two sides:
  • 1 Sided (default)
  • 2 Sided
  • 2 Sided, Rotate Side 2
Next Original Select this check box to scan multiple documents from the glass or feeder.
Color Document Quality
  • High (large file)
  • Medium (default)
  • Low (small file)
Color Mode Indicates whether to scan the original in color or black and white mode:
  • Auto - Auto color/gray detection for scanning. This is the default.
  • Black and White — Scan in black and white with a compressed file size. This color mode does not support the JPEG file format.
  • Grayscale - Scan in black and white.
  • Full Color - Scan text and photos in full color, regardless of whether the original is in color or in black.
File Format Indicates the type of file to save scanned data. The following file types are supported:
  • PDF — Saves to PDF format.
  • MTIFF  —  Specifies MTIFF format.
  • TIFF — Specifies TIFF format. This is the default.
  • JPEG — A file format widely used in digital cameras. Suitable for saving photo data.
    • This type does not support saving of multiple pages into one file.
    • If the Black and White color mode is selected, the file format is changed to TIFF.
Background Suppression

Removes blank pages from scanned documents:

  • Off
  • On

Contrast Adjust the contrast between black and white in the scan. Choose the appropriate contrast from -2 to 2. The default is 0.
Reduce/Enlarge Adjust the size of the image or text for the scan:
  • 25%
  • 50%
  • 75%
  • 100% (default)
  • 200%
  • 300%
  • 400%
Lighten/Darken
  • 100. This is the lightest option.
  • 60
  • 30
  • 0 (default)
  • -30
  • -60
  • -100. This is the darkest option.
Sharpness Choose the appropriate sharpness from -2 to 2. The default is 0.
Original Orientation Indicates the paper orientation of the scanned document.
  • Portrait (default)
  • Sideways Images
Original Size

Indicates the size of paper being scanned.

  • Auto (default)
  • Mixed
  • 8.5" x 11" LEF
  • 8.5" x 11" SEF
  • 8.5" x 14" SEF
  • 11" x 17" SEF
  • 5.5" x 8.5" LEF
  • 5.5" x 8.5" SEF

Original Type

Optimizes the output for text or image:

  • Photo and Text —  Automatically adjusts the settings for each document. This is the default.
  • Text —  Use this option for document that are text-based or mostly text.
  • Photo —  Use this setting for photographic prints.

Resolution Indicates the scanning resolution:
  • 200 dpi — Select this option to scan a standard original. This is the default.
  • 300 dpi — Select this option to scan a standard original with higher resolution.
  • 400 dpi — Select this option to scan an original containing small characters and drawings.
  • 600 dpi — Select this option to convert an original into a file of the maximum size. This option is available when scanning an original such as a full-color photo, which requires a fine level of image.
Scan Preview Displays a preview of the scanned file on the device screen.
Mixed Size Originals Select this check box to scan multiple pages in different sizes.
Pdf Security
Photographs Select Enhance Photographs if scanning a photograph. Off is the default.
Book Scanning Arranges the two or more pages of a scanned document onto the front and back of one sheet of paper:
  • Off (default)
  • Left Page then Right
  • Right Page then Left
  • Top Page then Bottom
Edge Erase
  • Manual (default)
  • Standard
Top & Bottom Erases the top and bottom edge by the same amount. The default is 0.
Left & Right Erases the left and right edge by the same amount. The default is 2.
Binding Edge Errors Erases all four edges by the same amount. The default is 0.
Shadow Suppression Select Auto Suppression to lighten the background to increase visibility of a faint image. This setting is not supported when the color mode is Black and White.
