Grid extractors

A Grid Extractor functions like the Export to Excel option, but does so on a set schedule and extracts all charts and grids from the View. Follow the procedure below to extract a report.

  1. On the Documents Tree, right-click Reports and select New Extract.
  2. Name the new report and click OK.
    The Extract Report Editor appears.
  3. In the Views pane, click Edit view list. Select the Views to add to the report.
  4. In the Content pane, specify export content and export format (similar to the "Export to Excel " option).
  5. In the Data filtering pane, configure filtering if required. If you select Filter by, all data based on a translation table will be filtered.
  6. In the Generation pane, select Enabled to receive the report to email or save it to the specified folder. Set the options as follows.
  7. Optional. In the Email subject pane, complete the following steps.
    1. Select Save to file to save reports to the default folder on your local drive, which resides in C:\temp\InsightData\<project name>\Report.
    2. To define the email subject using the templates, select the value from the list and click Add. For example, to receive the most recent report from Barcelona named "Report from CompanyName, Barcelona, <dd MMMM yyyy HH:mm:ss>", add the following values.
    • Report name - The name of current report is used.

    • Filter value - The value set in the Data filtering pane is applied. Select Barcelona from the list for the Filter by specific value option.

    • Current date - In the Property Panel, in the Format for "Date/Time" templates, select Full from the list. Also, you can use the Format for "Date/Time" templates property to customize the Current date template. For details, see the Named formats section in the Help for Insight Themes and Formats.

  8. In the Email body pane, enter the text for the message body. You can also add templates from the list, such as report name, report filter, and more.
  9. Save the report.

Advanced grid extractors

The Advanced Grid Extractor functions exactly like the Grid Extractor, but it offers more options for customization and uses generation and record delivery.
