Define a process metric

You can create a Process metric based on processes you have defined. In a Standard metric, you can define a condition as to what Records to include in the Metric calculation. In a Process metric, you filter what process instances to include.

You do this by specifying that you only want to include instances that go from, such as node A to node B. You can also add restrictions to include process instances that go through certain nodes and bypass other nodes.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • From the Guide section, under Define Metrics, click the Add new metric link.

    • On the Documents Tree, right-click Metrics and select New Metric.

  2. Locate the Process Metric section and click the Create button associated with it.

    The Metric Definition tab appears.

  3. Set the following preferences:
    1. Number of instances: Count of process instances that satisfy the conditions defined in the Filters.
    2. Ratio to the number of all selected instances: Ratio of the count above to all process instances.
    3. Time between the steps: Average time between any two process steps.
    4. Queue for step: Size of the queue for any process step. The queue means the process instances that passed through the previous and have not yet passed through the selected step. The queue could be expressed in the number of such instances or in how long the "oldest" instance is sitting there.
  4. Select a definition and click the Dimensions tab.
  5. On the Dimensions tab, select the box associated with the fields to use for dimensions in your metric.
