MongoDB and Hadoop ODBC database types

You can select MongoDB and Hadoop ODBC database types.

Connect to Hadoop/Hive and MongoDB through third-party ODBC drivers. ODBC drivers transform the Insight SQL query into the equivalent native, such as HiveQL or MongoDB. Since both Hadoop and MongoDB are NoSQL or schemaless databases, these drivers are needed as a translation layer between Insight and the NoSQL databases.

The following Hadoop drivers are examples of third-party providers:

  • Hortonworks Hive ODBC driver

  • Simba Hadoop/Hive ODBC driver

  • Simba MongoDB ODBC driver

ODBC drivers for Hadoop/Hive or MongoDB are not included with Insight. You must obtain the drivers prior to using these database types like other RDBMs.
