Server tab - Extended Synchronization Settings window

Use the Server tab to modify the server synchronization settings.

The following Extraction Modules settings are available:

First Server performs classification and extraction, Second Server performs extraction on demand

This option is selected by default. The first instance of the Server classifies and extracts; the second instance of the Server extracts on demand, which is needed if Document Review is to be put in-between to sort out incorrectly separated and classified documents.

Document separation is always processed in Server Instance 1.

  • Repeat auto foldering in second server - use this option if you want the second instance of the server to perform auto foldering again. Usually auto-foldering is only performed by the 1st Server instance.

Note Auto-foldering usually depends on extraction and is therefore executed after extraction. If extraction is performed again in the 2nd instance of the Server then auto-foldering needs to be repeated.

On the other hand auto-foldering in the 2nd instance of the Server may overwrite manual changes to the folder structure made by the Document Review module.

If you want the 2nd instance of the Server to perform extraction auto-foldering again you have to enable a specific option in the Extended Synchronization Settings window of Synchronization Tool.

First Server performs Classification only, Second Server always performs Extraction

The first instance of the Server performs only classification. Since no extraction is performed in instance 1, extraction has to be done by the second instance of the Server.

Note Auto-foldering is always executed in the 2nd instance of the Server in this configuration.
Import text from PDF files

Select this option to use the text already embedded in the PDF document. PDF text extraction is faster and more precise than OCR. If a PDF document does not have text available, and this option is enabled, OCR is run automatically.

Important In order for your project to support PDF files, you need to enable the "Allow import of eDocument files" option on the Advanced tab of Kofax Capture Adminstration batch class properties.
