Create index fields and assign them to extraction fields

The three buttons in the center of the Synchronization Tool are used for creating and mapping index fields.

  • Create a new index field: Creates a new index field with a name that you provide. (A window is used to type the field name.)

The new field is added to the list of available fields for that document class. The index field is not automatically assigned to an extraction field.

  • Create a new index field with name of extraction field and assign it: Creates a new index field with the name of the selected extraction field and automatically assigns it. Multi-selection is not supported. The new field is also added to the list of available fields.

This button is only available when the selected document class is assigned to a Kofax Transformation class that contains extraction fields.

  • Create a new index field for each extraction field and assign it: Creates a new index field for each extraction field and automatically assigns it. The suggested name for a new index fields is similar to the name of the extraction field, but can be changed by the user. If index fields with a similar name already exist for a class a number is added at the end so that field names are unique. The new fields are also added to the list of available fields.

This button is only available when the selected document class is assigned to a Kofax Transformation Modules class that contains extraction fields.

Note The icons for new index fields are marked with an asterisk until they are saved to Kofax Capture in the synchronization step. If synchronization is not performed, the new fields are discarded when the Synchronization Tool is closed. Extraction fields that are not assigned to Kofax Capture index fields are processed during extraction, but the results are not returned to Kofax Capture.
  • Create new index field for each extraction field in all classes and assign it: Creates a new index field for each extraction field and automatically assigns it. This is done for all index fields in all classes of the project. The suggested name for a new index fields is similar to the name of the extraction field, but can be changed by the user. If index fields with a similar name already exist for a class a number is added at the end so that field names are unique. The new fields are also added to the list of available fields.
