Update a Kofax Transformation project during batch lifetime

Kofax Capture 9 introduces a feature called Batch Class Update, which allows you to correct and automatically refresh a batch class. The Kofax Capture Batch Manager module provides an option to update the batch class of the selected batch (or batches) to use the currently-modified project. Refer to your Kofax Capture documentation for details about updating batch classes.

If you want to apply small changes not affecting the structure of the project, after having already synchronized it with a Kofax Capture batch class and while a batch is already scanned and in the system workflow, you do not need to synchronize the batch class again but only re-publish it.

Small, non-structural changes in the Kofax Transformation project may include the following:

  • Changing a script (for example passwords for database connections).

Back end password policies require frequent password changes. If you change the password while batches are still being processed in the system workflow, those batches are not released because they are referencing the old password.

  • Changing the project settings, such as those for databases and dictionaries, etc.

  • Modifying the document structure method for Document Review (for example changing the event type so that the script uses documents instead of the batch).

  • Switching in Correction to whole field mode because Single Character Mode works poorly for batches that are already in Correction.

  • Implementing stricter requirements for Verification (for example fields must be double-keyed immediately instead of just confirmed).

  • Changing validation rules (for example changing a reference date that is used as a baseline for comparison with the date found on a document).

If you have applied a structural change to the project and then synchronized and republished the batch class, you can also use the Batch Class Update option in the Batch Manager module for batches already in the system workflow. These batches are managed in the following way:

  • If you apply the update of the change before the batches are in Kofax Transformation Modules - Server, they are processed with the new changes.

  • If the batches are processed in Kofax Transformation Modules - Server and are already in any other Kofax Transformation module (for example Correction, Validation, Knowledge Base Learning Server, or Verification) they are automatically sent to the Kofax Capture Quality Control module. If you want these batches to be reprocessed with the changed settings, redirect them in the Kofax Capture Batch Manager module to the first instance of Kofax Transformation Modules - Server.
