Migrate an A2iA Zone Locator

The A2iA Zone Locator is now deprecated and no longer supported. However, if you have used an A2iA Zone Locator in a previous release, it is possible to continue to use these locators at your own risk. The A2iA Zone Locator and the Check and Cursive Recognition engine remain for reference purposes only and are not meant for use in production.

Alternatively, you can migrate these locators to a supported locator method. To use or migrate an A2iA Zone Locator it is necessary to install the Check and Cursive Recognition Add-On.

When you migrate an A2iA Zone Locator, the following behavior occurs:

  1. If an A2iA Zone Locator is configured to use the CheckReader functionality, then it is migrated to a Check Locator.

  2. If an A2iA Zone Locator is configured to use the FieldReader functionality, it is migrated to an Advanced Zone Locator that uses the FormXtra recognition engine . If a single A2iA Zone Locator has multiple zones then multiple FormXtra zone profiles are created, one for each zone. This enables you to configure unique settings for each zone.

It is recommended that you migrate your A2iA Zone Locator to one of the supported locator methods. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Create a backup copy of the Transformation Designer project that contains at least one A2iA Zone Locator.

This ensures that you always have a project that you can access for reference purposes.

  2. Open the original copy of the project in the Transformation Designer.

When the project is opened, a window is displayed explaining any upgrade warnings. Review the messages and make notes so you can review any configuration changes or automatic conversions.

  3. For each A2iA Zone Locator in your project, perform the following steps.
    1. In the Project Tree navigate to the class that contains an A2iA Zone Locator.

The Details page is displayed and a warning explains that this locator is deprecated and can be migrated.

    2. Click Migrate.

You are prompted to confirm the migration. Read the message and click OK.

A window is displayed explaining the changes made during the migration. This includes the name of the new locator as well as any issues encountered during the migration.

Review the message and make notes about any specific A2iA Zone Locator settings that could not be migrated.

For example, if your A2iA Zone Locator was configured to use the CheckReader functionality, it is migrated to a Check Locator. However, the Check Locator does not support the same settings for all countries, so it is possible that a configuration in the old A2iA Zone Locator cannot be directly mapped to the Check Locator. As a result, it is necessary to review the Check Locator and its settings to ensure that they are configured adequately.

Similarly, if your A2iA Zone Locator was configured to use the FieldReader functionality, it is migrated to an Advanced Zone Locator and a corresponding FormXtra zone recognition profile. In some cases, there is not a one-to-one match for the A2iA Zone Locator settings so a similar setting is assigned. Review both the Advanced Zone Locator settings and the FormXtra zone profile settings to ensure that they are configured adequately.

    3. Click Close

The original A2iA Zone Locator remains for reference purposes only and can be deleted once your project is fully tested working as needed.

    4. Repeat these steps for each A2iA Zone Locator in your project.
  4. Test your new locators with relevant documents. Make changes to the settings as needed.
  5. Once you are happy with the test results Save and then Release your project.
