Standard Document Separation

Although disabled by default, you can enable standard document separation for a project on the Document Separation tab of the Project Settings window. The tab provides a variety of additional settings for defining how the Transformation Server handles unclassified pages during standard document separation.

Using a combination of class properties and separation project settings, Transformation Server creates a new document each time it recognizes a first page. If one or more pages or documents are classified or separated incorrectly, resolve the document structure during Document Review.

Use this type of document separation when the content and layout of the first pages of your documents are consistent and easily recognizable. For example, a project is configured to process three different application forms. Each form has a fixed page length and easily recognized characteristics on the first page. Because of these consistent document features, standard document separation can easily separate documents with a high level of accuracy.

You can use document separation and classification online learning to improve the separation and classification results for your project, over time. Each time a document is manually separated or reclassified for by a user, that document is collected and used to improve the separation and classification results of subsequent documents with the same layout.
