Image rotation

It is a common problem for documents that are incorrectly scanned and orientated. If a document has the wrong orientation, it cannot be successfully classified. Without the correct classification, it is unlikely that any data is extracted successfully. Rotation is performed during classification only, regardless whether you are using content classification, layout classification, or a combination of the two.

As a result, there are several settings to correct inverted or sideways documents:

  • Enable automatic rotation when full text recognition is performed via the Project Settings - General tab.

  • Enable automatic rotation when the Layout Classifier runs via the Project Settings - General tab.

  • Select how automatically rotated documents are saved via the Project Settings - General tab.

  • Enable Comprehensive orientation detection for a FineReader page recognition profile.

The FineReader recognition engine will be deprecated in the next release of Kofax TotalAgility. As a result, Kofax recommends that you use the OmniPage recognition profile for both page and zone recognition for all new projects. If you have existing projects that use one or more FineReader profiles, it is also recommended that you modify those projects to use a comparable OmniPage profile.

  • Script automatic rotation, content restructuring events, or orientation suppression.

See the Kofax TotalAgility - Scripting Help for more information on rotation scripting.

  • Rely on users manually rotating mis-orientated documents during Document Review, Validation, or Thin Client Validation.
