A2iA FieldReader

The A2iA Zone Locator is now deprecated and no longer supported. However, if you have used an A2iA Zone Locator in a previous release, it is possible to continue to use these locators at your own risk. The A2iA Zone Locator and the Check and Cursive Recognition engine remain for reference purposes only and are not meant for use in production.

Alternatively, you can migrate these locators to a supported locator method. To use or migrate an A2iA Zone Locator it is necessary to install the Check and Cursive Recognition Add-On.

When you migrate an A2iA Zone Locator, the following behavior occurs:

  1. If an A2iA Zone Locator is configured to use the CheckReader functionality, then it is migrated to a Check Locator.

  2. If an A2iA Zone Locator is configured to use the FieldReader functionality, it is migrated to an Advanced Zone Locator that uses the FormXtra recognition engine . If a single A2iA Zone Locator has multiple zones then multiple FormXtra zone profiles are created, one for each zone. This enables you to configure unique settings for each zone.

A2iA FieldReader incorporates Intelligent Word Recognition (IWR) technology, reducing spelling and character recognition errors. Instead of recognizing words character-by-character, IWR matches entire words and phrases against a user-defined dictionary.

For the best results located your user-defined dictionary on a network share. This ensures that even if you move your project from one server to another, the dictionary is still accessible.

The A2iA Zone Locator using FieldReader recognition recognizes information in the following fields in different document types:

  • constrained fields as comb and box fields (machine print, capital letters).

  • unconstrained fields as free-form, cursive, and hand print.

  • handwritten fields in addresses as first and last name, street number, street, postal code, city, and country. FieldReader uses postal dictionaries (ex: USPS, Médiapost) for the recognition.

  • overwritten fields.
