Word Options, Excel Options, and PowerPoint Options

This dialog box is available from multiple integrated applications with applicable names such as Word Options, Excel Options, PowerPoint Options, and Power PDF. The content and the title of the dialog box may vary depending on where you start it.

The dialog box offers settings to govern conversions of a document to a PDF file when using the PDF Create Export Add-in or the Power PDF printer in the respective applications. To display this dialog box, do any of the following in an integrated application:

  • Start the Add-in at File > Export > Create Kofax PDF, then click Options in the Save As dialog box.

  • Click Create PDF on the Kofax PDF ribbon tab, then click Options in the Save As dialog box.

  • Click Creation Settings on the Kofax PDF ribbon tab.

The dialog box contains the following sections on the Settings panel:

PDF Settings

Power PDF uses two independent sets of profiles to organize PDF output settings. See Profiles for details.

Select a profile in the Default Settings list. Click Edit to open the PDF Settings dialog box and edit the profile. See PDF Settings for details.

Application settings

Set the details of the PDF file.

  • Embed document information: Select this check box to transfer the document metadata provided with the source file to the PDF.

  • Create Bookmarks: Select this check box to transfer the bookmarks to the PDF file. In Word, the following group options are available:

    • Convert Word Headings to Bookmarks: Select this check box to use the headings from the source Word document as Bookmarks in the PDF file.

    • Convert Word Styles to Bookmarks: Select this check box to use the styles from

      the source Word document as Bookmarks in the PDF file.

    • Convert Word Bookmarks: Select this check box to transfer the Bookmarks from the source Word document to the PDF file.

    If the dialog box was opened with the Creation Settings command of the Power PDF ribbon toolbar, then the above bookmark options are available on the Bookmarks tab for editing. The Bookmarks tab also offers a list to select bookmarks for transfer one by one.

  • Add Links to PDF: Select this check box to transfer the hyperlinks from the source document to the PDF file.

    • Use relative path to address target document: Select this check box to use relative paths in hyperlinks referring to other documents.

  • Convert Comment: Select this check box to transfer the comments from the source document to the PDF file.

  • Create Tagged PDF: Select this check box to add metadata that describes the document structure and the order of different document elements.

  • Create PDF/A Level A file when PDF/A is selected under Default Settings: Select this check box to stick to PDF/A Level A conformance.

  • Compliance with PDF/UA: Select this check box to make the PDF file compliant with PDF/UA, which provides better accessibility than PDF/A Level A.

    This setting can conflict with some PDF settings in the profile. PDF/UA compliance may override profile settings regarding font embedding, document actions, security, and multiple pages per sheet.

  • Convert Entire Workbook: Select this check box to save all sheets in the workbook. This setting is available only in Excel, if the dialog box is started with the Creation Settings command of the Power PDF ribbon toolbar.

  • View result PDF: Opens the PDF output file. This setting is available only if the dialog box was opened with the Creation Settings command of the Power PDF ribbon toolbar.

Page range

Select which pages to include in the PDF file. This panel is available only in Word and PowerPoint if the dialog box was opened with the Options button in the Save As dialog box.

  • All (default)

  • Selection: Available only if text is selected in the document.

  • Current page

  • Pages: If selected, specify the page range to use by providing starting and ending page numbers.

Export what

Select whether to include the markup (such as comments, annotations, and highlights) in the PDF document. This panel is available only in Word if the dialog box was opened with the Options button in the Save As dialog box.
