Filter groups

Use filter groups in the view (dashboard) to filter a component you want to broadcast to a group, and apply the filter to the component that will "listen" to a group.

You can create a custom filter group or use one of the following filter groups that are available by default.

  • Current View: By default, the group is marked "local." Filters from this group influence only components from the current view and corresponding view holders.

  • Default Global group: By default, the group is not marked "local." Filters from this group influence all selected components.

Use the following procedure to add a custom filter group.

  1. In Admin Console, on the Documents Tree, click Filter groups.
  2. Select Add new data.
  3. Select the Local check box to only allow communication within one view.

Clear the Local check box to allow cross-project access to the filter group. When the Local box is cleared, it is available for any Insight view.

  4. To use these groups in a component, in Studio, select the view, open the component Data Wizard, and select Action.
  5. In Incoming Actions, select the filter group this component listens to.
  6. In Outgoing Actions, specify the filter group to which the component is broadcast.
Note You must select Use the value of the dimension as filter before specifying the filter group.
