Detect tables for one or more documents

Table detection is needed if you want to use detected tables in an Advanced Table Locator or via script. Two things are required before you can detect tables on a document.

  1. Table detection must be enabled for the selected class.

  2. Recognition results are required for the selected documents. If you attempt table detection without recognition results, you are prompted to recognize the selected documents when table detection is performed.

You can detect tables for one or more documents by following these steps:

  1. Open a document set.
  2. Select one or more documents.
  3. Right-click and select Detect Tables Detect Tables icon from the shortcut menu.

If no recognition results exist or there are already detected table data for one or more of the selected documents, then a prompt is displayed to indicate that recognition is required before you can detect the tables and that any table data is lost. Click Yes to proceed with the recognition.

Once all of the selected documents already have recognition results, a Detect Tables progress bar is displayed and closes when table detection is complete.

The selected documents now have table detection data.

  4. Optionally, view the detected tables by selecting Open in XDoc Browser from the Shortcut menu.

What next?

  • If not done already, add table training documents to a class.

  • Edit the table training documents.

  • Train your project.

  • Add and configure an Advanced Table Locator or configure a script.

For more information on scripts, see the Transformation Designer Scripting Help.
