Table Training window

Use this window to define table labels and table columns for table extraction.

All documents in Table Extraction Set for the selected class are displayed in this window. When the window is first opened, all documents are expanded and the currently selected document is displayed in bold in the document list. Use the expand and collapse icons to view or hide the detected tables in each of the training documents. In the same header row as the expand and collapse buttons there is also an icon that indicates if a document is included in the table training. Either the Include for Training icon is displayed or the Exclude from Training icon is displayed. Click on this icon to change a document training status as needed. When training is performed within this window, assigned labels and predicted labels are still provided for any excluded documents. However, this information is not used for table training. It is simply displayed as additional information.

This window has a menu and toolbar displayed at the top of the window so that you can access common functions.

For each document the window is separated into two distinct halves.

Left pane

Right pane

The left pane displays all documents with detected tables. Whatever is selected in the left pane is displayed in the image view on the right pane.

When you select a specific document the following information is available for the document and its detected tables:

Table #

This is a full list of all tables detected on a document. The page number indicates where the table is located in a document.

Page #

The page where a table is found. If the table spans more than one page, the page range is listed.

For example, if a table starts on page 3 and ends on page 7, the value for this column is 3-7.

Table Training Status

There are several icons that indicate the training status for a table.

  • - The table is successfully classified.

  • - The table failed classification based on the selected table label due to a table label training conflict.

This can happen if similar tables are labeled with different table models.

  • - The table is not labeled but can be classified.

  • - There is no table training information available.

  • - The table training information is no longer valid.

This indicates that table training is required. Click Train and Classify Icon Train and Classify Tables.

Assigned Label

If a table label is assigned to a table, it is listed here. If no table label is assigned, this is <None>.

Predicted Label

After table training is performed, the classified table label based on the existing labels may be entered here. The confidence of the classification is included in parenthesis after the label. The goal is for the Predicted Label to match the Assigned Label with a high confidence.

If no predicted label is available, this is blank.

The right pane displays the selected document page in an image viewer along with the following behavior:

  • All detected tables on the selected page highlighted.

The currently selected table is highlighted in blue. All other tables are highlighted in green. Any applied labels are displayed at top of the highlighted table image.

Double-click on a table to apply a label.

  • If you select a table from the left pane that spans more than one page, the image viewer jumps to the beginning of the multi-page table.

  • Detected columns are displayed for the currently selected table.

Click on a column to apply a column label.

When a table is selected, the following information about the columns in that table is displayed:

Column #

Displays the column number for the selected table.

Assigned Label

If a column label is assigned to a table, it is listed here. If no column label is assigned, this is <None>.

Column Training Status

There are several icons that indicate the training status for a column.

  • - The column is successfully classified.

  • - The column failed classification for the selected column label due to a column label training conflict.

This can happen if similar tables are labeled with different table models.

  • - The column is not labeled but can be classified.

  • - There is no column training information available.

  • - The column training information is no longer valid.

This indicates that table training is required. Click Train and Classify Icon Train and Classify Tables.

Predicted Label

After table training is performed, the classified column label based on the existing labels may be entered here. The confidence of that classification is in parenthesis. The goal is for the Predicted Label to match the Assigned Label with a high confidence.

If no predicted label is available, this is blank.
