Protect a project

Protecting a project encrypts all existing training documents so that they are not visible to any user. Any documents added after a project is protected are not encrypted so that the user can test changes to locator methods.

If you have any external training sets, you cannot protect a project. If you do have external training sets, either make them internal, or remove them altogether before protecting your project.

You can protect a project by following these steps:

  1. From the File menu, click Save As Protected Project.

The Save As Protected Project window is displayed.

  2. In the Save As Protected Project window enter the following information.
    1. Accept the default name or enter a new Name for the project.

For example, update the name by adding _Protected to the end of the project name. This ensures that you can easily differentiate protected projects from non-protected projects.

    2. Enter or browse to the Directory where you store your protected projects.

For example, you can store your protected projects in a separate directory than non-protected projects. This ensures that the protected projects do not get mixed up with other projects.

    3. Enter a Password and then Confirm password.

Make a note of this password as it is needed to unprotect a project.

This password must be at least 10 characters long up to a maximum of 64 characters. Spaces and special characters are allowed.

  3. Review the path and project file listed in the read-only Full project path field.

If this path is not correct, return and update the Name and Directory fields as needed.

  4. Click OK.

Your project is protected and any training documents are no longer visible to users.

The Save As Protected Project setting is disabled and the Unprotect Project setting is enabled.
