Messages

A message is a composite of elements that define the content and context of a MarkView message. A message comprises the following database objects:

Only use MarkView Administration to modify messages. Other options, like adding a message, requires coding and configuration outside of MarkView Administration.

Modify a message

MarkView generates the ID, which you cannot change.

  1. Select the Messages tab and click Details next to the message to change.

    If the message is Unchangeable, the fields are read-only.

  2. Continue as follows:

    • To change the message, modify the fields as needed, and click Save.

    • To remove the message, click Delete.

Add new text translations

When you add a message text translation, you add the initial message text. The system creates a new version for each successive translation of a message, regardless of language. The latest version is the text displayed for the message. You must be authorized to perform text translation maintenance.

  1. Select the Messages tab and click Details next to the message for which to add a translation.
  2. Select the Message Text Translations tab and click Add.
  3. Click Select Language and select a language from the LOV.
  4. Enter a Text Translation in the text box provided.

    If you include attributes in the text string, enclose them in curly braces. At run-time, the attribute will be replaced by a suitable value.

    Do not translate the attribute name into another language.

  5. Click Save.

Modify text translations

  1. Click Details next to the text translation to change.
  2. Continue as follows:

    • To change the text translation, modify the fields as needed, and click Save.

    • To remove the text translation, click Delete.
