Business rule enhancements

Creating and maintaining business rules is now simpler and easier with the introduction of two new business rule variations, Decision tree and Decision table. The new variations extend the capabilities that are already supported with existing business rule functionality.

These new variations support the ability for both citizen and technical and developers to create and maintain rules, without interfering with each other. Citizen developers can update business data and adjust rule logic outside the main Designer, which gives them control while still ensuring productive collaboration with technical IT developers.

Decision tree

Decision trees offer a simplified top-down approach that includes visual representation of business rule.

Condition activity

A new node type, Condition is available to enable the user to easily define conditions that may have multiple true paths. Paths added via the properties add nodes to the process. The destination nodes automatically appear as paths to be configured.

Decision table

Decision tables are available in a tabular format that makes it easy for citizen developers to view business rule conditions and expected outcomes.

Business data

Business data is key data that can be used within a rule and is available in a new tab within rules. Changing this data can change the outcome of the rule. You can edit the value of business data within the Workspace when you do not have access to any of the design environments. The business rules for which you have the required edit permissions are listed under Edit Business Data in the Administration menu.

You can also edit the business data from within TotalAgility Apps.
